MG and TR splines are identical.I have a TR3 and had a MGBGT. I went to 15
inch splined Mags on the MG. When I sold the car I removed the wheels to
fit on a future TR4 purchase. Bonus answer. Big Healey splines also match
up with Trs by Jag splines do not.
While MGs usually take 14 inch wheels that are usually 4-1/2 inches wide.
A six inch rim is very unusual.

It usually costs more to install a new hub than to purchase a new wheel.
You mentioned chroming. The spokes are stainless and the hub & rim are
chrome. It would be way cheaper to purchase a chrome wheel. Also you need
new hubs.
Never match new and worn splines unless you want all warn splines very
quickly. Moss & TRF usually give a slight price break on a complete set of
wheels & hubs.
Too bad you just missed the winter sales.
You want 60 spoke Daytom chrome wire wheels. 165 R 15s are usually good
matches for the wheels.
