My inclination would to go ahead and balance the crank and DEFINITELY replace 
your rings and any other minor  parts to which you currently have access.

Just ask yourself how soon you want to rebuild your engine again, and the 
answer should be self revealing!

Isnšt it fun having your valves in a shoebox?  Whoo -- quick, check the hairs 
on the back of my neck!
