Don't know about those thieves -- we certainly have our share, I'm sure 
-- but you're right in that 1970 was the first year for the steering 
column lock on U.S. spec. Spitfire Mk.3, as well as TR6 and GT6 sold here.

What about wheel covers/hubcaps/other wheel trim? What did French 
versions have on the 4.5" plain steel wheels? BTW, center-lock wire 
wheels were no longer an option on U.S. 1970 model Spitfires, either.
