I just took apart the rear brake cylinders on my 76 TR6. While they were
apart I cleaned the parts in varsol. I then coated the piston and seals
in Castrol brake fluid and reassembled. I have not yet done the front
brakes and will also be rebuilding the master cylinder.
The question is this: Did I commit a terrible mistake by using varsol to
clean brake parts??? My dad read in some Mazda repair book that using
petroleum products on brake components is an extremely evil thing to do.
Any info greatly appreciated.
