Ken I just installed this oil filter adapter on my 71 TR6. Mine was rescued from
a 70 parts car but it is the same unit that TRF and all the other parts houses
supply. Yes the adapter unit has to be rotated forward less than 15 deg. I
installed it and it just clears the clutch slave cylinder. Yes your fuel line
must be routed wrong as I had no interference with it. I did experience a
problem with the large bolt being just a little too long and not achieving a
proper seal at the large O-ring.
I used a fiber washer at the bolt end and doubled up two filter o-rings with a
little silicone sealer. The installation has been trouble free ever since. We
used the car quite frequently last weekend at the TRF summer party with no
problems. I change oil once a year, since its only used for about 500 mi each
summer. Each time I seem to forget the unpleasant experience of removing the old
style filter cartridge. It is worth a little time and effort to make the
switch/reroute your fuel line.
