A moment of silence please for John Hazelton <hazelton@mizar.usc.edu>'s
totalled Spit.

He owned it from new and has been using it as his sole transportation
for nearly 15 years! The last 8 or so of them in the Los Angeles area,
yet. How many on this list can approach that record?

We can all take heart from the fact that it went the way it would
have chosen, not from rust, decay or neglect, but doing battle with
the hated anonymous blobs of modern times, to the bitter end. This
much-maligned car beat all the odds, not only showing vastly better
reliability than it's reputation would have it, but even protecting
its driver in the high-speed collission that ended its career, another
thing you wouldn't credit a Spitfire with doing.

Hats off to ... you never actually named it, did you, John?
