I have a clicking noise that just started in my rear wheel on a '75 Spitfire.
I just jacked it up and rotated the wheel which "clicks" once every
revolution. I suspect the wheel bearing is disintegrating, but there
appears to be no play when I do the standard, "hold-the-wheel-at-the-top
and-bottom-and-see-if-it-moves," test. Could it be an inner bearing near
the differential?
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I have no history on this car whatsoever...never even met the PO.
