Greg
I see what your saying, and you are probably right about the shock
treatment the tranny gets during lock up. Have you ever heard of a
"Torsen" differential? It uses worm gears to transfer the torque to
the axles. No ratchets, no springs, or no clutches. Is very strong
and dependable. The only problem is, I do not know if one is made
for a Triumph. I am told there is one but have yet to see one. I
have not looked very hard though, so it may exist. These are
excellent posi-traction differentials. I have been told not to
bother with one called "Quaif" (spelling?) Several SCCA racers have
told me to stay away from that one.
As for the Mustang pattern, I am clueless. But if memory serves me
correct, the older Mustang II used the Ford 8" rear end. You can get
almost any ratio you can think off for them. The newer Mustangs use
a Dana rear end, I think. They should have ample choices of gear
ratios also.
I will ask around. Pat
