The usual advice is look at the rubber on the pedals and the carpeting in
the driver's footwell. 2000+ hours at the wheel wears the rubber through,
500 hours much less so. Steering wheel and seat leather shininess are
corroborating evidence. Most everything else falls apart of its own accord,
especially over a long time. All the suspension bushings and other rubber
parts will be shot just from age.

In the TR250 case since the engine runs (!!), check the compression. 130K
will almost certainly show some valve or ring leakage, varying among
cylinders. But a  $30 valve job in 1970 would make it pass that test.
