All of the LAT factory options were allowed in SCCA in 1965 and were perfec=
tly legal then. After the Tiger did so well (and would have won the champi=
onship if not for Chevy), the big manufacturers protested and then they wer=
e not allowed in 1966. Additionally, the LAT factory options were allowed =
in the stock classes in the AHRA at least through 1967, but not in the NHRA=
.

If you don't allow (taking off points) LAT headers in concours, then all LA=
T options shouldn't be allowed, aluminum valve covers, oil pans, wheels, ho=
od, etc. No Tiger came from England with any LAT options, they would all be=
dealer installed, which wouldn't be seen very often. Maybe "High Performan=
ce Motors?" etc. might have installed headers etc. before selling a car. Ro=
otes had problems getting the LAT options for SCCA homologation. Anyone hav=
e a dealer invoice showing LAT options on it when sold?

None except the works race cars.
Agree - headers shouldn't be concours. That said - I personally would enjo=

cours points. And on that topic - white ceramic coatings look awesome and =
are most effective. Also period correct for race car headers.

Don't know about the LAT 73 headers, but "other" headers of the period were=
usually satin black/semi gloss black from the manufacturer.

Brian,
That is really a " refer to the judging guidelines" question.
1. My personal opinion is while the coating is preferable as it protects f=
rom rust and can offer advantages of reduced engine bay temps and keeps hea=
t in the exhaust ports.. It isnt stock... If you coat to appear original f=
inish its up to the judges to spot... If you have these coated and another=
car has them painted .. I'd pin you the point...
2. The LAT brochure shows what appears to be a satin black finish on them..=
But its a B/W brochure.. And.. Maybe they painted them for the sales ima=
ges .... So take that for what its worth.. So if ceramic coating a satin bl=
ack Would be the first choice...
Just my .02..

Happy New Year everyone,
I'm purchasing a set of reproduction LAT 73 headers and want to have them t=

Two questions.
1. Will I get dinged at concours (stock class) for coating the headers?
2. If not, what color were the original LAT 73 headers?
I have to pony up the cash for the headers and coating soon, so timely feed=
back will be most appreciated.
