I re-watched the whole video again today. There seems 8 things he got
wrong to some degree (in order of appearance):
He addressed the Tiger badging but neglected to mention the distinctive
side trim.
He referred to the steering rack as "below the A-arms."Â That is a term
I have never heard and he failed to mention the rack was notched into
the front/top of the crossmember.
The firewall hammering issue was AGAIN brought up.
The Alpine/Tiger is not a body on frame car as he stated.
He stated the roll up windows were in the rear.
He stated the rear end was a Dana or Salisbury 45, not the 44 that it is.
He eluded that the BW transmission was a only in the prototypes but the
first 50 or so Tigers had them.
The last point I am not familiar with but he states the 1927 (he says
1925) land speed Sunbeam was called the "Thunderbolt." The internet says
Campbell called the car the Bluebird it was also nick named "The Slug".
I found no reference of it being called a Thunderbolt According Mike
Taylor's book in the early 60's the (to be) Tiger was referred to as a
Thunderbolt but as Ford was using the name it was changed to Tiger. Too
much to read at the moment to see what TBON has to say.
I actually met Magnante at the Mopar Spring/Fall Fling. He is a very
personable guy. For whatever reason other than the Barrett Jackson
events his career seems to be in a holding pattern. He seems to be
struggling to find his place in the internet world. Maybe accuracy has
something to do with it. The day before he did a video on Studebaker and
got a number of things wrong there too.
