All my gauges have that haze and this has happened now with both my 
Tigers and several Alpines I've owned through the years. I think it 
probably is from something that leeches out of the red paint on the 
pointers as the paint deteriorates and fades. I've never had the issue 
with any other brand of car and I can't remember any of those other cars 
having the needles painted like Sunbeams.

Has anyone on the list owned any other brand British cars with Lucas 
gauges with the plain white needles? It would be interesting to find out 
if those gauges had/have the same issue.
