Well,Steve I agree with almost everything in your masterful discourse.I am
well aware of the fact that these Ford engines(260,289,etc) finished off the
act of balancing the engine externally,at both ends. The 302 used both an
early 3 hole version and an after 70 a 4 hole version of the 28 oz
imbalance piece. The question was about Harmonic balancers.I assumed that Tym
was looking for the 3 hole variety since his original query was about
289balancers and not 302 pieces so I focused my answer there.I found it odd
that the SVO steel balancer listed that it could be used with so many
different Ford engines.I just read that from the side of the actual part
box, right here(the piece has both 3 and 4 hole bolt patterns integral to
it,so either pulley would work) I further assumed that the SVO piece would
work with a 260,since Ford says that it would work with a 289.I think I am
safe here since a 260 is not the subject of this question, but if someone had
a need to use the SVO part in this manner, they should ask thier Ford dealer
for more info, since we know what happens to people who "ASS UME"
By the way Ford was using 4 bolts to fasten the pulley to the balancer hub
way before the 1980-81 change over to 50 oz <A

.look at item #V1066 most of the way down the page.(click on the buy/more
info black box for a larger picture once you are there)
 Have a Great Day!
