Folks,
Just found the problem with the brake light killing the signal light.
Tried loosing and retighting the screws that held the rear taillight assy
with no luck. Noticed that the signal light flash was slightly dim compared
to the passenger side. Also noticed a faint flash occuring on the
driver's side brake light. Reached in and grabbed the brake light
socket and gave it a turn back and forth. Problem solved. Bad ground on
the brake light socket to the main tail light assy was killing the signal
light on that side.
Therefore, if Prince of Darkness happens to you, you could have a bad
ground between the light assy and the body, connected with rusty sheet metal
screws or the sockets in the light assy could have a bad connection to the
assy. All four assy can have ground problems, as well as the problems
with the 6 single filiment bulbs, two duel filiment bulbs and 8 sockets.
Not counting the wiring, that is only 20 possible individual items that
can go wrong. If there are 2 failures at once then there are only 190
combinations
or 3 at a time only 1140 and so on up to 10 failures at once of which there
are only
184,756 ways to fail. That is unless you have repeated combinations of failures
which is only 20,030,010 combinations of 10 of the 20 possibilities to check
out.
No wonder my lights are always failing!
