You would have gotten a kick out of the rest of Jack's presentation. He
told of when he left Lucus because he was caught by Lucus himself using the
front stairway. Jack explained that the rear stair was really a fire escape
that had become dangerous to use as it was falling off of the building.
Lucus said to him: "I did not ask for your opinion about the condition of
the stairway. I do however demand that you use it. Please do so in the
future." Jack quit on the spot.
He also told about Lucus doing research into putting tread design into road
surfaces rather than on tires and actually getting patents on the designs.
Jack is a fascinating chap who added a great deal to College as program
head of Plastics Technology before his retirement. One of my many future
projects is to get his story on video tape so that is is not lost.
