SAAC has never excluded Tigers. My many meetings with
their National Board members have indicated that they have
always considered the Tiger a Shelby car. Their only concern
is that Tigers never show up at their events. They will gladly
have trophies and such if three or more show up. They have
a staff of approved concurs judges (headed by Dirk Gasterland
of Wisconsin) who seem to have a good knowledge. Concurs
awards are bases upon points with minimums set for each
level.
The only problem is the high cost of the national dues. But
you can join you local regional chapter at much less cost.
However if you are going to a national meet (this year in
Dearborn) you must belong to the national club if you want
you car judged in concurs.
I belong to the Indiana chapter of SAAC. They sponsor a
great car show, the Indiana SAAC Spring Fling in Brown County
State Park, Nashville, Indiana. This year show is May 20-23.
Usually 12 Tigers show up. We are always assigned a prime
spot in the shade next to the real Cobras. Based upon what I
read in Tiger Tales, this would qualify as a United. I've been the
judge for years. Tigers East cosponsors the show.
Come join me in the fun.
