I will definitely support Tom Patton's position with the SCCA. It is an
absolute crime that all of his hard work, and hard dollars, should be shelved
by typical SCCA misguided beauracracy. And don't think for a second that the
enormous amount of financial support by Toyota Racing Development and Porsche
America have nothing to do with this proposal. It is a sad commentary on the
state of "amateur" road racing in this country and correlates with the success
of groups like NASA and others at the expense of a dwindling SCCA membership.
Next time you have a chance, attend an SCCA regional. Where are the cars? Most
classes, at least here in the SF region, are very sparsely populated and in
some cases uncontested. Racers like Tom are the very reason for SCCA's long
term success.
