Got to correct the Tiger Shop Notes Temp sender reference. The Shop
Notes II a J. Schuster said that the original shop notes (B-31) was too
thin, when finished. He concluded that to convert a 3/8 NPT (National
Pipe Thread) original to a Tiger required 5/8 UNF, a 9/16 drill thru an
adapter left too thin a wall, as the drill cuts the adapter and the TAP
penetrates the manifold casting. His recommendation was:

"Drill out the existing hole to 45/64 inches and tap to 1/2 NPT. Then,
insert a 1/2-inch diameter by 1/4-inch long pipe bushing. Drill out the
bushing with a 9/16-inch bit, and tap for 5/8 x 18 threads."

He believes this is a much cleaner job, and allows the sender to seat
properly. He does not specify the bushing material, but does caution to
clean the manifold, and DO NOT DO THIS ON THE CAR.

I cannot personally verify the temp sender thread, as a previous message
was talking about British Pipe Thread standards. Does anyone know, for
sure, the proper thread and depth required by the Tiger sender? Is there
a seating surface requirement, and perhaps a gasket?
