I guess I have 7 dead generators.
Bummer. No wonder I run alternators on all my LBCs.
Thanks for all the tips. But I still ended up with 3 gennys that put out 
almost 1 volt. Not one will light a 12 volt bulb.
Bench grinder spins 3500 rpms and that didn't do much but up the .86 
volts to .98 on the best of the bunch.
I tried tying the field to output, tried a headlight, then a dash light, 
nada!
