Frank,
Tie the two terminals on the generator together, put test leads on the
junction of the two terminals and the other on the case. Then spin it, a
good one will give you about 20-25 volts.

Subject: Generator bench test
I hope I am doing something wrong or I have 7 dead generators.
I thought if I spun it with an impact wrench I would get some volts out
of the back of it.
4 of them showed almost a whole volt, 3 of them didn't make the dial wink.
I got .86 volts out of the best genny. I was sort of hoping for maybe 14-18?
I put the probes on the large teminal and grounded the other to the
generator. Spun it with the impact wrench which goes pretty fast but I
can't count the rpms.
Am I doing something wrong?
Or do I have a bunch of genny cores?
