Mike....
The standard Weber kit for the stock 1275
is a 45DCOE however....
below are the given calibrated settings for
a Series A 1275 engine running a 40DCOE
with "modified head" (out of Vizard):
chokes (main venturis) 35mm
aux. venturies 4.5
Main jets 145
Air correctors 180
Emulsion tubes F16
Pump jet 45
Idle " 50F2
Assuming you are running a stock 1275
with stock head, the foregoing would be a
little more than you need, considering
the increased flow capacity of a "modified"
head (ported, bigger intake valves, etc.).
You could probably get away with slightly
smaller chokes for better flow "velocity"
(initial and low end response) and better all-around driveability at the rpm's
normally used in a stock application on a daily basis, along with something like
135 mains with 175 air correctors.
But at least the foregoing Vizard settings
are "reasonable" ballpark to begin with
and a Haynes Weber Manual may be able
to offer you other jetting choices as well
for your application.
There's a difference between "getting it to run"......and it "running well",
especially when it comes to decent performance with
reasonable all around economy of operation!! :)
