The main reason for rear disks is to balance the braking and have self adjusted reliability. If you had ever been in a Porche 911 doing 90 MPH and had the driver take his hands off the sterring wheel while hitting the brakes (hard - as in lock up), but find the car stopped with no fade, squeel, wander or even tire sound, then you'd be looking at it's brake design! I will be answering the question of "how to" on a Mazda rear end (per Rob's question) as soon as I can work it up. John Carey |
