Saskia broke down twice a week last Saturday, first time the fan belt
fell off - The garage had not tightened the bolt for the alternator clamp
properly. Was glad that I kept a spare belt and coolant in the car boot!
Then when I was 5 minutes from home a valve spring broke! The AA came
out and towed me home. I have ordered a complete set of valve springs
and a new inlet and exhaust valve. I am hoping that the piston has not
been damaged by the valve bouncing up and down it. I shouldn't think it
has been damaged, and will be very pissed off if it is damaged.
I have got a spare engine so I was thinking of transferring the head from
the old to the new engine myself, but getting the manifold on and off
seems a bit of a bugger so I'll let the garage do it.
The garage reckon it'll be 4 hours labour to do the work, sounds
reasonable to me.
oh well...
