I set my timing tonight and got the car running fairly well. The question I
have is that when I set the timing, it is set a good bit before the gauge
even starts. I would have to guess I am at 30 - 35 deg BTDC at 1000RPM? If
I rev the engine the timing does continue to retard pehaps another 15
degrees ( I can't really tell there is no guage at this point). Now I am
running a fairly hot cam, but isn't that excessive?? What is the likely
hood that I have the distributor gear 1 tooth off? If I am off a tooth, and
it is running right, does it hurt anything to leave it, other than confuse
folks?
