Hear hear. When the mechanic tore down my engine last month in the
first step of the rebuild, he found a piece of RTV gasket material
clogging the intake of the oil pump. He said he sees it all the
time, a bit too much gasket material somewhere that squeezes out and
waits for a good opportunity to fall off and lodge somewhere, just
like a blood clot that ends up in the lungs or brain.
In my case, I ended up with a failed rod bearing and a badly
scuffed camshaft.
