FYI: The ballast resistor 'wastes' or uses up 6 volts to reduce the
amount to the coil at 6 volts. A coil that doesn't require a resistor
would be a 12 volt model. If the coil is listed on the outside as
requiring a ballast resistor, then definately do use one.
