A couple of thoughts here,
Firstly, I am right in thinking that you, John, are in the UK? Specs for UK
engines are different than USA, and that may include compression ratios.
Joe, I'm sure, knows more than I ever will, but since he might not have
realised we are talking UK spec heads I thought I'd just throw up this quick
warning.
Secondly, this is a good opportunity to replace ALL seats with hardened
ones, to make the head compatible for unleaded fuel - important if you plan
to do any significant number of miles in the car for some years to come.
