Jeff, In my humble opinion, that's an old wives tale!! Just check the originals for cracks and threads for stress. I've rebuilt a 1296 and a 1147 engine and have used the original bolts without failure!! They both have run many races in excess of 6,000 Rpm's without any problems!! Believe nothing you read and only half of what you see!!!
