Actually this is NOT true.  The .sit (Stuffit) file format originated 
on the Mac, but it is now fully cross platform and has been for 
several years.  You can compress and decompress .sit files on a PC or 
Mac.  In general they are usually smaller than .zip files.  To get a 
free expander that will do .sit .zip and many others go to 
http://www.aladdinsys.com the inventors of Stuffit file format.
