Hi Dominic
Grab the engine quick, about the only checks you can do are to make sure it
turns and give the crank a push / pull / push, cycle from either end and
check the end float, if you hear it bang it may need the sump dropped and
bigger thrust washers added.
Get a new oil pressure sender, the light should come on with the ignition
light to prove the warning circuit! and these things can fail dramatically
once they start to leak.
