OK, so no boxer...how about a Nissan SR20DE?  2.0 Liter, aluminum block
engine that puts out 140HP in stock trim.
Good aftermarket support, but it is a FWD engine in the U.S.  The Japanese
market has RWD SR20DEs and DETs(turbo).

Heh, there will probably be a variable valve SR20 in the near future.  Mo
power, mo power, mo power...

P.S.  I'm just throwing out suggestions here.  I wish I had the money and
technical know-how to put one of these together.  Hell, my Spit hasn't even
hit the street yet. :)
