How is the handling of the Pirelli's compare to your original 155's?

I have generic brand 165/80's, and I am not too happy with them. I
notice that if I give a wheel hub a quick shove sideways, the car will jiggle
back and forth sideways for several seconds. The sidewalls simply seem too high
and flexible. I am not sure if I should switch to 155's or the 175/70's.
(I have stock rims, and these two sizes seem to be the most practical ones.)
I would prefer to have whitewalls (the way the car originally came), but
175/70 whitewalls seem to be very hard to find.
