The problem with headers that fit easily probably are not equal length. And
that is the most important elementof a good header. Stahl headers are nice
but the 4 to 1 that I was getting for my 1147cc varied in length by over an
inch. I now make my own, including the flanges to match the ports after I
have ported the head. The 4-1 is the best for all out performance, but
4-2-1 is still better than the stock manifold and much easier to fit. Most
racers end up modifying the frame and bellhousing to get the 4-1 to fit.
There are several books that cover this subject and give the equations for
calculating the correct length.
