Hi Dave
Your box problem sounds like the circlip on the front of the mainshaft to
me, I keep these in stock at all times!
How about the Guy who fitted a recon box to his Dolomite 1850,completely
reasembled the interior, drove it up the road and lost 2nd and 3rd, went
home and fitted a Dolomite Sprint box, took it for a test drive, made and
fitted the spacer to replace the seat lifting washers that were extending
the Sprint propshaft to reach the 1850 axle, went to refit the interior to
find that Triumph had rotated the engine in the bay to get the 16v head in,
the stick wouldn't go down the hole to the box.
The 1850 box was rebuilt by himself this time,(bŁ$%^& circlip) and refitted.
the car was driven for about a month then the 1850 engine died, Guess who
had a rebuilt Sprint engine in the garage, out comes the box again and in
goes the Whole Sprint drive train, no more worries, I knew I should have
fitted the Sprint engine instead of the 1850 gearbox, There's one for the
T-shirt award! Hope this helps with your morale, remember however bad your
LBC is being someone else has had or is having worse!
