O/D Shift lever

Hi all
    My Overdrive shift lever has a hole in the top of it where the knob
screws on. Yet there is no exit . There is welding at the point where
the lever makes a bend. I think the previous owner borke it and welded
it back together.  Could someone tell me where the exit point should be?
Or better yet, does someone have a shift lever that they may want to
sell?
