I purchased a PureOne oil filter at Pep Boys (No. PL10017; $6) and installed
it yesterday. When I removed the old filter ( a no-name that "meets
Chrysler standards"(it wasn't Mopar?) that the PO put on) there was an
adapter threaded in already. Good thing because none came with the new
filter. It is simply a double male, 5/8" to 3/4". I chose the PureOne
because of the info I saw at
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/1080/oilfiltertech.html It
rated the PureOne the best, based on SAE testing. This number will fit Spit
1500's as well. I don't know how the NAPA Gold stacks up in the SAE test,
but you could buy it for the adapter, and switch to a different brand of
filter later.
