The cutouts are actually what is left from the Mark I's and II's, and the
internal vents from the GT-6.   The only metal on the back of any of the
'79s I have owned was the tab where they bolted in and a reinforcement ring
around one of the gauges.

I should have been more specific.  I was referring to Mk3's up to '69 or
'70.  Interesting to note your comments though...  How many cutouts did you
find?
