Mike,
I used to autox my 68 Mk3 back in the early 70's. Adding a camber
compensator definitely helped but did not completely cure the problem. I
have no experience with the conversion to the later spring.
At the advice of a local SCCA racer, I installed a spacer between the spring
and the differential. That worked great( felt like it was on rails), but
produced a lot of negative camber. I'm not sure it would be a good solution
for a street Spit. The reactions and comments from people thinking the rear
wheels were falling off were fun :-)
I removed the spacer when I discovered the longer studs I had used were not
up to the task and were bending.
If I planned on driving hard, I would definitely not leave it stock.
