Hmmm. Since the majority of American drivers really don't know the purpose
of the yellow light (proceed but with extreme caution, prepare to stop, stop
if you can do so safely, etc., and NOT hit the accelerator), wouldn't it be
interesting if they were eliminated? Just go from green to red or red to
green. Survival of the fittest I say! It could eventually "thin out" our
congested roads although it might cause some congestion in our cemeteries!
Of course in this scenario the least capable of surviving would probably be
those of us in the smallest (most fragile?) cars. Just a thought.

'79 Spitfire - soon to be mounted with a rocket launcher for red (and some
yellow) light runners!

About 10 years ago my wife was nearing an intersection/traffic light and the
light turned yellow. There was a motorcycle cop in the lane next to her and
he thought she was going to run it, thus ending in a red. He gunned it, but
she was stopping. You guess it. He ran into the back of her. He flew over
the motorcycle hitting our car. When he got up he said "why'd you stop?".
She smartly said "it was soon to be red of course!". The city paid all
damages. The car needed new tail lights anyway :)
