Mark,
The recommended method is to get all wheels off the ground. That leaves
out the 2-wheel dolly. The U-Haul trailers are awfully heavy. Perhaps
you can find someone locally who would lend your his trailer. If not,
you will probably find it cheaper to rent a trailer for local use and
tow it down there empty and haul the car back. There is no odometer on
a trailer to indicate how many miles you went.
A Ranger should be able to handle the load. I have towed my Mk1 all
over the place behind my Blazer V6.
