Padded washers are there on the bottom of the rivit to prevent body rubbing
and wear when the plate is bolted down.
On my replacement hood, the 2 short pieces that are *supposed* to be
caught by the doors aren't long enough nor far enough forward to reach so
they just flap in the breeze.
