Hello all.
I'm currently removing the rear axles (to replace the u-joints) and
figure this is a good a' time as any to fix the leaking seals/gasket on the
diffy. I have a couple of questions: Is this something you can do while the
diffy is still under the car? Or do I have to pull it out? It looks like
that it only has 4 seals... 3 o-ring type seals, and a gasket between the
nose housing and the main housing. (Please excuse the
non-technical/mechanical terms... I don't have the manuals in front of me.)
Am I missing any seals/gaskets?
Since I have yet to any work on the Spit that requires the use of a
special tool (the carb tuner thingy doesn't count!) can a non-mechanical
person like myself accomplish this task without the insides of the diffy
falling out (which, I guess, is my rear fear), or should I just drop it from
the car and take it (and the seals/gasket) to a Diffys-R-US mechanic?
If I get enough support, I'll do it!
Many Thanks!
