They're called splines.
You can't change the input shaft if it's a fine spline clutch plate, just get
a clutch plate for a 1500 up thru 1974, same spline setup. Everything else
should work fine.
I put a 1972 1300 (similar block, etc. as the 1500) in a MkIII once, nothing
to change there.
