One thing to remember is that almost always when there is a "O2" sensor 
code, that means that the sensor is working just fine, it is telling you 
that there is something wrong upstream.

In talking with several good SHO techs, and other mechanics, they say 
that )2 sensors rarely go bad, and when they do you will know it.  
Otherwise, they do their job telling you that something is wrong 
upstream, a misfire, a leaking injector etc.

The fuel smell could be from those things instead of the 02 sensor.

Most people and a lot of mechanics change out the 02 sensors only to 
find the problem was somewhere else.
