Try this.......get a piece of steel tubing (like brake line) that has an ID
slightly larger than the head of the screw. Sharpen one end. Plug the other
end with a piece of dowel rod so that it won't crush when you put it in a
drill chuck.
Now drill down around the screw head all the way through the 1x6. When you
get them all cut it should be fairly easy to pry the board loose. Now just
nip off the screws flush with the joist. You might experiment with filing
some notches in the sharp end of the tubing to make it cut better.
The simpler thing would be to go to a good hardware store and buy a plug
cutter large enough to go around the screw head. I don't know if the plug
cutter has enough depth but it would be worth a try.
