A possible clue to look for: Are there any countersunk screw heads on the
front or back of the door, low down by the track (or up at the top of the
door for that matter)? Sometimes rollers will have a screw through the side
of the door which is used for adjusting the height of the roller. If you
saw screws like this it might be an indication of where the rollers are
supposed to be.
Some things you've probably already checked:
Did you dig around in the felt groove to make sure there are no rollers
hidden in there?
The rollers aren't built into the track are they?
Any rollers, or places where rollers should be, at the top of the door?
