Doh! I missed that part; sorry... When I took apart mine (GM column, so I
don't know how applicable this may be), there was a small retaining clip
(spring steel) that I had to extract with a bent paper clip. This allowed a
toothed slider rack to come out, and a gear (turned by the ignition switch) to
drop. After that, I could rotate the whole ignition switch assembly, and
remove it.
Have you tried stopping by the dealership and asking one of the service guys
if you could sneak a peek at the manual? I've had pretty good luck with that
if I went during the day (when it was quiet) and asking one of the lot guys...
