Well that depends on what brand of European vehicle.  If you have a VW or an
Audi, a better option for you would be a VAG-COM unit.  Quite inexpensive,
plugs directly into your laptop... and gives you almost total control over
onboard vehicle diagnostics.  Also allows you to do some data logging /
plotting.
