one man's trash... but I agree - there's a yard here covered with pink
flamingos. nowhere near my house, so I just laugh as I drive by. but if I
were a neighbor...

you know, that one *shocked* me too. I have a friend in boca raton. lives
in a townhouse development. no pickup trucks allowed.
eh?
and that's not as visitors, nothing. they're not to enter the
property. what especially surprises me is that this is not an ultra-tony
development, the residents are mostly young people, and daily driver
pickups are popular. suvs are allowed, and vans, but no open-bed
trucks. odd. wonder about a truck with a topper?

that's a main reason I feel so fortunate to have bought where we did. big
lots, no city government (but no city sewer, either), and 15 minutes from
my office.
but again, that a double-edged sword - my neighbors are great, and like
trees like I do, and they're quiet. but I understand the man from whom I
bought this house had goats and chickens. those make quite a bit of noise
apparently. the first thing one new neighbor said to me was, "you don't
have any goats, do you?", which is a strange introduction. seems the
county had ordinances against pigs only, so there was nothing they could
do. that would probably be less than ideal.
still though, I don't see myself ever being able to live in any development
with a covenant - just give me a bigger lot with more trees.
