Dick, if you are using the original steel shielded cable between ignition
keyswitch and coil, there may be intermittent shorts inside. It is difficult
to diagnose and can make your 216 sput and fart and then run okay with no
real predictability. It can feel just like a wet distributor. It seems the
insulation wears off the wire inside.
